Coastal and pilings
Home elevation to base flood elevation
Tier D · 20 towns covered
Raising the house above base flood elevation. Long process, often part-funded through FEMA ICC or a mitigation grant.
It's one of the more common calls we get across Southern Ocean County, NJ.
What usually prompts the call
- Repeated flooding of the space beneath the house
- A mitigation grant or ICC claim you are considering
- A finished floor sitting below base flood elevation
- Flood insurance premiums that have become hard to justify
The usual approach
The house is separated from its foundation, lifted on steel beams and cribbing, and set on a new elevated foundation. It is a months-long process with engineering and permitting ahead of any lifting, and funding applications often run longer than the work.
$40,000 – $150,000 — typical range, not a quote. What your home needs can only be settled by a registered contractor who comes out and looks at it.
This one has an extra requirement. Home elevation needs a separate New Jersey registration from ordinary home improvement work, carrying a higher insurance minimum. We only pass elevation jobs to contractors who hold it.
